Humboldt Trekking Tour (4 Days / 3 Nights)
In the morning you are taking the car, heading to La Mucuy in the Sierra Nevada National Park. You begin at about 2000 Meter with a five hour hike across the subtropical fogforest. At about 3100 meters you have reached your first destination: the laguna Coromoto. Here you will set up your tents for the night. After a great dinner, you will have some time to talk to other travellers and the guides, before going to bed. (B/L/D)
The day begins with a strong breakfast, to prepare you for the day. Afterwards you will hike from the laguna Coromoto over the Paramo to the Laguna Verde, the green laguna. During this hike, you will pass several different kinds of vegetations, beginning with the Elf Forests, until you finally reach the Paramo Vegetation. You are going to climb over huge rocks that have been broken out of the massive mountains during the last ice age. The night you will stay in a tent, close to the Laguna Verde, from which you can see the snow covered Humboldt Glacier. (B/L/D)
After a delicious breakfast you start into the day by hiking to the laguna El Suero. From here you continue hiking and climbing, until you make it to the foot of the glacier. Now it starts getting serious: Ropes and Belts are being used, to pass the glacier and reach the top of the Pico Humboldt. For the hassle, it took you getting up there, you will be richly rewarded with an amazing view over the partially snow covered tops of the Andeans. After some time to relax and enjoy the panorama view, you will prepare to get back down. Once down the Pico, you will continue by foot, to return to the base camp at the laguna verde. Here you will spend another night in a tent and get to enjoy a tasty dinner! (B/L/D)
Getting back La Mucuy will take you about seven hours. You will again pass over the laguna Coromoto and get another chance to see the beautiful nature out here. Once you arrive at La Mucuy, your transfer is already waiting, ready to bring you to our partner posada, where a nice shower, food and drinks are already prepared and waiting for you. (B/L/-)
